Singapore the cleanest city of the world...

Singapore has been called the cleanest city of the world. If you even spit in the street you could receive a fine! In this country there is an eternal thirst to be the best at everything. This country promotes a healthy lifestyle and as a consequence they do not have enough local patients visiting their state of the art hospitals. “Indeed, the World Health Organization ranks Singapore as having the best health system in Asia, well ahead of Japan” (The medical tourism travel guide, 2008) In a way of solving their health care surplus and their low in-patients demand they have developed aggressive marketing campaigns to attract foreigners.
A medical procedure called Osteo-Odonto-Keratoprosthesis or tooth-in-eye is a complicated procedure that could restore the eye sight of a patient by removing a canine tooth from the patient. After the tooth is removed is shapped and a whole is drilled in it, then the doctor proceeds to enter a plastic cylinder. The doctor needs to reinsert the tooth inside the patient's body. Few months later the doctor will finish the procedure by extracting the tooth. The doctor will remove the plastic cylinder from the tooth and reinsert it on the eye of the patient. The patient will be able to see after few weeks of recovery. This complicated procedure was performed for the first time in United States in September 2009. According to multiple United States doctors, this type of surgery may not occur in the near future because of the lengthy process that it involves. The Singapore National Eye Center had been performing numerous tooth-in-eye surgeries with successful results.
Every medical treatment that you can imagine can be found in Singapore. From stem-cells banks, to neuroscience centers to analyze every component of the brain and identify possible defects or research what would be the best solution to fix the problem, to oncology (Patients beyond borders, 2008) The country’s cultural belief to be the best at everything is been applied to every aspect of their life and it is also applied in the medical services they offer. The quality of health care have an impact on the cost of their medical procedures and in comparison to other countries in Asia, Singapore charges higher prices.
